The Original Dish Drying Mat

Ever since I could remember, the dishwasher was not a mechanical device that washed dishes. "I" was the dishwasher. I thought my mom was crazy, but I guess I became accustomed to hand washing the dishes. Now, at 32, I still wash dishes by hand even with a dishwasher in the house. 

So as an experienced dish washer, my biggest pet peeve is washing wine glasses. They are too fragile to place in the dish drying rack, and I can imagine this happens to those of you that use your dishwasher too. I have to either lay out a towel on the counter to dry them, or wash them last and hand dry them.

Dino Lingo for Kids Review

Ever since my son was born, I knew I wanted him to be able to learn Spanish in addition to the English language. As I speak borderline Spanglish, I knew I was going to need help to teach him. Recently Influenster sent out these children's language learning DVDs in their Mom Voxbox from Dino Lingo. Although I did not receive an actual DVD, Influenster allowed parents to view a sample video online and I was thrilled!!

First I want to tell you about this wonderful program, and then I want to go into my actual thoughts.

What is it:

Dino Lingo for Kids is a language set where cartoon dinosaurs introduce the most common 200 words of a target language. This language set consists of 5 DVDs, each DVD focused on specific learning topics. Colors, numbers, family, animals, food, fruit and vegetables, vehicles, body parts, clothes, nature and verbs and actions. Dino Lingo is ideal for fostering a toddler's cognitive development and has won the 'Influential Parents Award' in 2010 and 2011 in education category

Who is it good for:

Children up to 7 years of age, plus anyone who wants to learn basic words

How many languages:

20+ different languages

The science behind it:

• Full immersion - hear common phrases all in the foreign language
• Contextual variation - each word is repeated in 4 setting throughout the video
• High-pitched female voices - voice babies and children identify best
• Pronunciation - phrases are pronounced by native speakers
• Dinosaurs - six colorful and cute dinosaurs present the material
• Vocabulary songs - children love songs and singing them
• Gradual interval recall - word presentation is repeated at timed interval to trigger memory
• 2D/3D animation - children prefer "real" dimensional characters
• Neonate characters - characters have baby like faces and are not scary
• Animism - Regular objects are animated which children love, i.e. talking cars
• Subtitles in foreign language and English - this allows parents to follow along
• Sudden surprises - keeps the attention of children

My Thoughts

So I was thrilled because I went to the link to sample a video, put in the code and immediately my 16-month old son said, "Oooooooooooh," with a big smile.

He sat on my lap and was totally engaged in the video.

After the video was over, my very initial thoughts were:

• It is a really cute program with very appropriate material for kids, i.e. animals, numbers, etc.
• I love how they are repetitive in showing an object and saying/spelling the name, as this is great for association.
• I love how they use basic phrases in Spanish that can be used everyday, i.e. One dinosaur says, "Hola, como estas?" Hi, How are you? And another replies, "Estoy bien!" I am good!
• I like that it is simple, so I can follow along and repeat the words to my son, as well as say the English translation, i.e. They show a cat and say, "Gato." Then I say, "Gato...Cat."

 

Overall:

I believe that this is a wonderful program that allows me, as a parent, to engage in television learning with my son. I am definitely going to be buying the rest of the Spanish series. I might even try another language as well, maybe French! I would recommend it to anyone that has children and would like to expose them to another language, or develop their current language. The Many Uses of Ivory

IVORY SOAP... "99.44% Pure, So Pure It Floats...", Free of dyes and heavy perfumes..., Ivory provides a simple, yet effective clean for the entire family (without breaking the bank!)....

Did you know there were SO many OTHER things that Ivory Soap is used for other than just washing your body in the shower???

There are kid activities:

• Microwave it and watch it expand
• Then kids can mold it
• Add food coloring and create soap paint
• Create snow flakes
• Carve it into sculptures
• Mold it

Some people mix it with water and spray it on plants to repel pests. You can make individualized soap on a rope with it. And of course it is an amazing cleaner. So how did i use it?

I used mine as a makeup brush cleaner. I read that it does a good job cleaning brushes, and since I use a more pricey one, I though it wouldn't hurt to give it a shot. I was so amazed at how gentle and effective it was. It cleans great and rinses off wonderfully. I just wet the bar and my brush, rubbed the brush over the wet bar and Ta-Da!

Plus, this amazing bar is SUPER affordable. You can find it at your nearest retailer, including stores such as Walmart and Target as well as any major grocery, dollar and drug store. A 10-pack of Ivory bar soap retails for around $4.49 (bath bar size). I recently purchased some more at Target, where 3 bars were on sale for $1.27. I used a $1.00 off coupon and paid some change!!

So I am thankful that I was able to rekindle my love for the Ivory Soap bar. I love it as a brush cleaner, and I am excited to try the many other "unusual" ways it can be used!

I want to tell you about this innovative product that I received complementary to test out through the BzzAgent program.

• It is a gentle, and is 5x less damaging than traditional relaxers.
• Comes in 2 strengths: Regular (for fine to average hair) and Super (for average to coarse hair)
• Lasts for 6 weeks or 5 washes.

• Can be found at Walgreens, drugstore.com, Sally Beauty Supply, and other stores nationwide.

So what should you expect after using this product? Hair that straightens more easily and/or manageable "wash and go" curls.

Who should use this product? Anyone that has unruly hair, that normally does not wash too frequently. Although the lady on the box is African-American, you don't only need to be African-American to get great results.

My personal thoughts? I personally did not use this product, because my hair is pretty manageable and I recently got highlights and color done (which the box warns not use the product if you have had either in the last 2 weeks). I have however read multiple reviews from other bzzagents describing their experience. Some were great, some were so-so. I believe that they people that get the most desirable results from this product are those with naturally unmanageable hair.
